By downloading, installing, or using Fretwork ("the Software"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Software.
Fretwork is a local-first desktop application for freelance time tracking, invoicing, and client management. The Software runs entirely on your local machine. No user accounts are required, and no data is transmitted to or stored on external servers operated by us.
Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to download and use the Software for personal or commercial freelance management purposes.
You are solely responsible for:
The Software supports optional integration with third-party large language models (LLMs) via the Model Context Protocol (MCP). These integrations are entirely user-configured and user-initiated. We have no control over, and accept no responsibility for, the behavior, accuracy, availability, or data handling practices of any third-party LLM or service you connect to. Any data you share with a third-party service through MCP is governed by that service's own terms and privacy policy.
THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NONINFRINGEMENT.
We do not warrant that the Software will be error-free, uninterrupted, secure, or free of viruses or other harmful components. We make no guarantees regarding the accuracy or reliability of any calculations, reports, invoices, or other outputs generated by the Software.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL THE AUTHORS, DEVELOPERS, OR CONTRIBUTORS OF FRETWORK BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SOFTWARE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
Our total aggregate liability for any claims arising from or related to these Terms or the Software shall not exceed the amount you paid for the Software, if any.
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the authors, developers, and contributors of Fretwork from and against any and all claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to your use of the Software, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any applicable law or regulation.
Fretwork does not collect, transmit, or store any of your data on external servers. All data remains on your local machine. For more information, see our Privacy Policy.
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Software at any time without notice. We may also update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Software after any such changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
These Terms are effective until terminated. Your rights under these Terms will terminate automatically if you fail to comply with any of its provisions. Upon termination, you must cease all use of the Software and destroy any copies in your possession.
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary so that these Terms shall otherwise remain in full force and effect.
If you have questions about these Terms, you may contact us by opening an issue on the project's GitHub repository.
